Answer» GREETINGS: I have a Compaq Presario S3100NX that contained a FIC AM37 MOTHERBOARD (Socket 462 -- Socket A). My question is: How am I ABLE to locate another motherboard (NOT another AM37), but one that is compatible with this system. I've searched various sites in hope of finding one that will fit the case, but the screw-holes are somewhat mismatched. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated...or if you have further questions, please hollar! Ttermn8tr .....Do you know the form factor of the board thats in there now ? I have looked at their site .... http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?lc=en&cc=us&man_lang=en&product=307004&dlc=en& And it tells you everything you dont want to know ........ Perhaps try contacting them and ASK for info on the board thats installed .........( unless it a secret ....LOL ) Is it a Micro ATX ? ( socket A ) http://www.directron.com/microsocket.html Let us know dl65 Term-n-8-r: Does it have a riser card CONNECTED to a large slot in the motherboard into which the expansion cards are inserted? If so, it's most likely proprietary & you will not be able to replace it with anything but a motherboard & riser card made for that case. Many Compaq PCs are like this. I guess they make more money that way, as you need to get your replacement from them! Regards, Doc Greetings & Tnx for the responses... The system has a MicroATX form Factor board and I have found one that is quite similiar. It's listed here: GIGABYTE "GA-7VM333M-RZ" VIA KM266 Pro Chipset Motherboard for AMD Socket A CPU Also, there a no riser cards installed. If I am unable to find a decent replacement, I'll give this board a shot... T |
