Solve : motherboard stopped responding?

ok let me GET down to it.  last night my Pc shut down and after attempting to power BACK on i heard a pop and then SMELT the smell everyone dreads.  so i pull the psu out test it all green lights.  check the mobo and see no signs of swelling or burn marks.  someone help?

ps. running windows xp
amd proc.
Did you only smell the smoke, or did you see it? Where was it coming from?
