Solve : Motherboard Upgrade Question?

Answer»

I am upgrading my board & processor to an AMD AM2 processor & Asus board. I currently own in 1 system PC2100 DDR memory and PC3200 in the second system. Will this ram work with the new board/cpu or do I have to use DDR2? Thanks for any advice.DDR2 memoryGo here:

Drill down to your motherboard model number and it will tell you what you need.

Sneakers is probably RIGHT but it's always good to double check. Besides, Crucial guarantees their memory for life.

Alan <>< I "don't think" the AM2 socket will take the older ram, STAY away and make sure you can try and get something using DDR2, before long the DDR2 stuff will be old.AM2 is specifically designed for DDR2. Unless the mainboard can use DDR1, which should say so on the box. If not, then you need new RAM. You can't mix DDR1 and DDR2 because the pins aren't compatible.Quote

However if i recall you have seen it done...
