Solve : Mounting the Motherboard?

Answer»

I THOUGHT ATX was an industry standard. Why is it that out of about a dozen holes that are marked as being for ATX in my case (Thermaltake ELEMENT G) only 5 holes in the motherboard line up with the standoffs in the case? Is this enough to hold the board securely?even 4 screws can hold your mboard just dont let your mobo touches the metal chasis.. i can say bad things will happen if it does.
just balance the division of screw..Thankage Rick! Turns out when I took my goggles off I could see one more that lined up. So I have 6 total holding the board in place.More than enough. The rest of the holes are to make sure it aligns with any BOX you may use.Make sure you use the MBoard standoffs...Do they still supply standoffs? I can't remember that they do. I keep a bunch of them around but I've had them for years.

Alan <>< ASUS and Gigabyte still do...last 2 boards i used for builds...
Everyone else has gotten cheap and stopped including them.

Kinda stupid SINCE they're PRETTY important and someone doing his 1st build not knowing any better will fry a MBoard/CPU combo....

I didn't get any standoffs with the motherboard but Thermaltake kindly included more than enough with the case (Element G).
