Solve : must reset bios to power up?

Answer»

I was working on a Dell Inspiron 1545 and PULLED the cmos battery which reset the bios.

Now when I power down the laptop, I have to remove and replace the cmos battery to get the MACHINE to power up again. Resetting the computer does not CAUSE the same symptom.

Any suggestions? Quote from: thavrilka on July 01, 2010, 05:10:30 PM

Replace the CMOS battery...
COMPLETELY forgot about that. Didn't occur to me that a 3 year old laptop would NEED a CMOS battery. If that doesn't work, the battery socket may have been damaged in some way, and the damage is causing a short, corrupting the CMOS every time you power down.

Does it also occur if you it restart the laptop?
