Answer» over a couple of months ago my ATAPI CD-R/RW 8x4x32 stopped recognizing recordable disks and instead just gives the "insert disk into drive" message. I have tried 4 different brands and am unable to burn any CD's whatsoever.I would APPRECIATE it if someone could help me with this problem.Can it read a previously burnt CD ?Can you also TELL us what Operating system you are using and what burning software you use. This helps us narrow the problem down moreIt can't read BRUNT CD's either. Also i'm running Windows Xp and the software i was using was Acoustica CD burner software before the free trial ran out.The CD player/recorder isn't seeing the CDs. Try using a CD player cleaning kit (Any music or computer shop will have one) first to see if the OPTICAL reader has dirt on the lens
