I have bought this computer a couple months ago and have been enjoying it with zero problems. About a half hour ago I felt like reinstalling a game of mine so I pushed the eject button on my pc tower and the tray OPENED about half way and then closed again...

Ever since then the drive icon, and the drivers and every trace of it ever have been there. I found a tweak on the net and used that and what not and got it all to come back... it SAYS the exact name of the device and shows the icon now... but it wont open.. and nor will it read the cd that's in there.

So I decided to REFORMAT hoping that it would change it back... it didnt.. now the lights dont go on for that drive either... it shows its icon in "My computer" and in the device manager it still shows its CORRECT name.. but I click on the icon and it says "Please insert disk.. ETC"

I unplugged the IDE cable, the power cable and replugged them in... and everything and still nothing.

Am I going to have to get a new one?Test the CD-ROM drive on another computer.
