Solve : My computer not starting.?

Answer»

My computer is not starting i.e, system is running but no display.
when my computer was running i just turned it off and attached a sata to IDE adapter to a ide hub and then connected  a sata hard drive which contains windows vista. Then my computer opens but no display, nextly an error message came (i forgot that error message saying something like pci ...). After that i turned on my computer but monitor does not start up i.e, no reply from my system to monitor, monitor works fine and power supply also.

How was the windows vista installed onto that hard drive? If it wasn't installed using that machine, then don't expect it to work properly. The OS has to be installed on the system it will be used on because it has specific hardware requirements. You may have tried something that is not recommended.
Vista is not a UNIVERSAL OS that can adapt to any kind o0f hardware changes.
Rather, Vista probes the hardware during fist installation and makes settings for a specific hardware profile.

It may not be piratical to recover from the damage done. In STEAD, you have to do a full install of the proper OS for the computer. You cannot take a hd with an OS on it that was installed on one system, put it in another system, and expect it to work. Quote from: IPDO on April 30, 2011, 04:32:18 AM

IDE hubs are USB devices (otherwise known as docking stations). So what you have is really an external USB drive. Windows will not boot from this, whether the OS was originally installed on this or another computer. Furthermore, if the OS was installed on another computer, you will not boot it even if you install the drive internally. Apart from the technical considerations, there may be Windows licence ISSUES.
