Answer» Could anyone help me with this. I've had this problem with my computer for over a year now. The fan in the tower blows probably 95% of the TIME it is turned on. Sometimes it even blows when its in sleep mode. It is extremely loud and annoying. It never use to do this and not sure how to fix it. It is only about 3 years old.
Any help would be great.
ThanksHave you opened up the case and cleaned out any dust? And how many fans do you have? Its possible your computer RUNS pretty hot and it needs to be on that AMOUT of time to keep it from overheating...trust me, you do not want your fans to slow down, because often computers have their fans optimized with the hardware inside, and if you slow it down, you risk overheating Please forgive the line of questioning, but we are talking about a tower fan as I understand the problem. Are you REFERING to your cpu fan or are you refering to the power supply fan?........both of these fans must run at all times, otherwise you end up with a brick....the power supply fan at 3 years of age may be starting to show signs of age.......however you will have to open up the case and determine where the noise is coming from. Thanks everyone for the help. I have no idea what fan it is. I didn't know there was more than one fan in it. I'll open it up and see if I can find out what one never shuts off.If may also largely depend on your climatology. Bear with me here, but if you live in an AREA considered high desert or an unusally hot place, it would be entirely prudent for your fan to run as much as it does. If it is not affecting the performance of your machine, then it is probably necessary. In fact, it is probably offering more in the way of protection and for that, I surmise that we could all deal with a minor noise annoyance.
