i have intel pentium 4 2.0GHz PC with 512MB RAM Mercury intel 845 chipset Motherboard. I have windows XP installed.

1. my PC often gets shutdown or restart when i play games or open heavy APPLICATION like photoshop. when it gets shutdown i can not START it by pressing CPU CABINETS turn ON button. i have to turn of UPS then only i be able to start it again.

2 .other PROBLEM is nowdays while booting my XP everytime checks 1 drive for errors.

If your computer isn't shutting down properly, it's not unusual for Windows to want to scan drives.

Need to know the exact model of the motherboard, not the chipset model. The 845 chipset was used in many boards.

Is this with any games or just specific ones?

Sounds to me like your system is overheating or you've got a problem with the power supply and/or UPS.no I mean it scans 1 drive for every boot. as i know it does't come every time.

not ne particular game but for all games which i have played earlier without ne problems.
i also think this is SMPS problem. tell me plz if there is any way to test it??
