Solve : My PC starts a high pitched ringing?

Answer»

After heavy video use or having several web pages open, my PC will start to give out a very HIGH pitched ringing. I can only COMPARE it to something like a dog whistle. I only happens with heavy use or lots of video. After I shut down, I can work in peace until I start to use lots of video, or heavy processing. HOW CAN I FIX IT CHEAPLY?Is the sound coming from the speakers or the computer case? From the inside the case. I have cleaned, dusted and checked all the fans.Have you checked to see if any wires are in close contact with the fan blades?Yes. I suspect it might be the processor or the power supply. Sound seems to start only with heavy use.Open the case and make sure that no wires or cables are in contact or close contact with fan blades.Done that one too.Leave the chasis open, get it to make that noise and just see what piece of hardware makes that noise.Hard to tell where its coming from. CPU is under a large heat sync and a fan. It's not the CPU. the CPU is not mechanical, it'll be a mechanical COMPONENT, like a fan with failed bearings or something.i have heard CPU's make buzzing sounds
Whistling capacitors in the power supply or on the motherboard.....kids can hear it well and DOGS won't come in the room.....you'll have to swap in a known good supply to see if the PSU is bad......if not then it might be one on the motherboard....are any of the capacitors bulging or split...... the caps have a + etched on top.
