Answer»

there are 4 LEDS on the bottom that are usually green but now they are off except the first one is orange. the keyboard is on. when i unplug and plug it back in it flashes the 4 LEDS green really quick . the keyboard is a Smart Office Keyboard model number ez-8000. please help THANKS If I an not mistaken, one should not unplug and plurg in a PS/2 device with power on.so theres no way to fix it?
You can try PS/2 to USB adapter and see if the keyboard still works. Scanty documentation I FOUND does not clearly explain what the problem is, just that you are not SUPPOSED to do that because of how the DIN connectors are made. They are not Hot Swap connectors. USB are.

Either the keyboard or the motherboard has been damaged. There may be a fusible link on the motherboard, but that is not certain.

The keyboard should not draw more that 300 MA.  If it does, the motherboard  INTERFACE fails.Either the keyboard or the motherboard has been damaged. There may be a fusible link on the motherboard, but that is not certain.
