Answer» Currently I am running windows 2000 on my computer, recently I tried installing windows xp and reformating to NTFS hard drive. My first problem was with windows xp, it would go to the xp loading screen, but not to the login stage, the screen would just go blank. I couldn't figure why so I tried going back to windows 2000 because I need my computer whether up to date or not. Well, that came up up with the message: "pease reinstall file ntoskrnl" I MADE an emergency repair disk about FOUR times after changing from xp to2000, before you know it I reformat back to Fat32 and it works! My problem is that a few days ago I installed windows 2000 express for service pack 4 or something similar,and it didn't work again. I get a fuzzy screen after the start up loading screen. Please help me I have been having one problem after another for months, I need helpwith any of those problems. I am running my computer with a nvidia gforce 5600 fx, my computer does run in safe modeand can anybody tell me what VGA mode is? 2 20G harddrives and it is an old IBM thx:) Oh and I run on windows 2000 5.00.2195 service pack 4 whatever that is. Also, oddly there have been over 100 updates lately installed... Don't know if that mean anything...I have seen this problem once or twice on older computers. WinXP sometimes has troubles finding the proper video drivers and is unable to use the generic VGA driver (640x480). If you are currently able to run in Safe Mode with WinXP. you will need to download the drivers for the Gforce 5600FX and install them. What's installed right now, Win2k or WinXP, or both?Did you wipe the drive and partitions in this process ? ? Also yes many of the updates were security updates, but I'm wondering why did my computer not download these before because my computer has been good for about 2 weeks. That's the last and final version.
