Solve : My system?

Answer»

Guys, I have some more evidence of a problem. If I am playing CoD4 with just one Google Chrome tab open that is playing a youtube music clip, then my fps drops by like 60. While this is happening, I checked task manager and everything is absolutely normal. On the CoD process the CPU number changes between 10 and 25, with the usage not going any higher than 50% on CPU performance moniter. My RAM while this is happening is also pretty normal, running at 2GB out of the 4GB I have. My components should be easily able to handle this game with many other applications at the same time with no drama. Does this evidence favor a PSU problem?

Thanks,

GrincheyAny ideas on that evidence? Thanks,

Grinchey

Sorry for the delay in posting.

Youtube is based on FLASH, and Flash is known to be CPU-intensive... I doubt it might be a CPU issue but still.... I think its more likely to be the Graphics card, though.

A quick search on google for STD::exception SetFullscreenState failed brings this up:

Up till here we haven't tried resetting the BIOS, have we?
Try resetting your CMOS and see what happens.
Are you overclocking?I haven't tried resetting it, and no I have not touched the system since I INSTALLED the new parts. I will do that in a bit, thanks for that.

Thanks.Tried resetting the CMOS by taking it out and putting it back in. Still the same problem.

Thanks,

GrincheyThe motherboard/power supply looks like the culprit here... if the CPU never tops 50% usage and the GPU has problems running 3DMark Vantage... it sounds like the motherboard is faulty.

It would really HELP if you could take the CPU out, put it into another PC, and run IntelBurnTest on it for half an hour to stress-test it for faults. You might want to do that with the GPU too-run Furmark on it for half an hour.

However, before we do all this, it might be something as trifling as the RAM causing the issue. try booting with only one stick of RAM plugged in.As I have no other computer that would support the CPU I am currently using (Intel Core i5 [emailprotected]), I will go ahead and try using 1 stick of RAM.

Thanks transfusion for your dedication
