Solve : Need help finding network drivers for my brother's PC? |
|
Answer» OK, so I just installed a new HD in my brother's computer (previous one died) and finished installing Win XP pro, but I am unable to connect to the internet because of a network driver error. Unfortunately my brother cannot locate the discs that came with his PC, so I'm having to do this the hard way. According to the info I got from running Speccy, his CPU is an AMD 64x2 5000, and his mobo is an Asustek M2N-SLI (Socket AM2). So far I have been unable to locate a driver online (on my PC), please help!!! All of your motherboard drivers: Hmm... I was pretty sure he had onboard video. Under Graphics, Speccy only says this: Standard Monitor (1024x768 @1hz) I searched for Asustek drivers but didn't find what you linked to, so I'm going to install that now and see what happens... UPDATE: The chipset drivers did the trick, THANKS!!!! I'm connected and downloading updates to Windows, but I still have no idea about graphics. I'll open up the CASE once the updates are done and take a look. OK, I opened up the case and found that he does NOT have onboard video (oops). He has an Nvidia 7200 gs, so I downloaded the drivers for that and fixed the graphics. However, when I look in the device manager, I'm still getting a network error. I believe he has a wireless card in there too if memory serves, so I'll go back in and see what it is and HOPE that the drivers for that will fix the one remaining issue. If it is an addon card get the drivers from the card manuf. site...Looks like windows solved it for me. Before updating windows I tried doing a driver search through the device manager, which didn't work. After updating windows, the driver search worked. Thanks for the help guys.Anytime... In future use the manuf. site for all drivers as opposed to Windows Update...it rarely works . Glad to hear you got lucky though... |
