Solve : Need help getting a Power Supply? |
|
Answer» Ok I don't know what kinda power supply I need to get..want to know if someone can help me. I need it to have a +12V rating of 30 or so it says for the Video Card. The specs for my computer are as follows: Motherboard- ASUS M2A-VM SERIES AM690G Chipset support CPU- AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3 GHz Video Card- Nvidia Geforce 8800 GT Performance Edition Any help would be appreciated I am looking for recommended power supplies what should I get?Figure out what COMPONENTS you will have in the SYSTEM and look here: http://www.extreme.outervision.com/powercalc.jsp. This will give you an idea for the total size (watts) of the PSU - if you buy a good brand (Antec, OCZ, PC Power, etc.) In addition, because of the power consumption of your video card (up to 105 watts; ≈9 amps), you need a PSU with a LEAST 30 amps on the 12 volt rail.Quote from: drmsucks on September 01, 2008, 01:28:43 PM Figure out what components you will have in the system and look here: http://www.extreme.outervision.com/powercalc.jsp. And, that's just a minimum. 50% more would not be out of the question depending on your total hardware. Take a look here for ideas: http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=58&name=Power-SuppliesQuote from: drmsucks on September 01, 2008, 02:21:24 PM Sorry to mislead you - total amps on all 12 volt rails. And I would suggest picking a PSU with >30amps, combined. Thanks this was all I needed! ^^Best of luck! |
