I couldn't find a connection for the Heatsink fan. I went to the dell website and still nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S J30 is for the main fan, not heatsink fan, and its not J10 EitherMost very old Pentiums have no CPU fan. You didn't say what yours was.Its a pentium 4. It came with a heatsink fan on it. I know it needs it too because I'll start up the comp and it'll shut down. when i restart it said it was a thermal event. meaning it heated up fast but SHUTDOWN to PROTECT the comp.Plug it onto the J30 main fan plug if it reaches. You won't be able to monitor the fan's RPM's, but oh well. I'm guessing that's not an issue.I can't connect it to J30j30 is the hsf power jack (unless it just happens to be that close to the cpu socket)
What does the plug on your heatsink fan look like? this or thisalex its the first link. second one. You're looking for a plug that looks like this http://www.build-your-own-computer-tips.com/images/P1010175.jpg.
There should be one PRETTY near to the CPU socket on the mobo. If not, maybe you have a connector that would take a connector that looks like the one on alex's second link. In that case, you would need a new fan with that type of plug or an adapter.well see thats the thing. i look for the connector and can't find it. The fan on the heatsink came with the computer. I just can't see where it connects to. I use the map on Dell's website but those other connections are already connected.Quote I can't connect it to J30
According to the connector you said your fan has and the map on the Dell site you have there, it should work. Does it just not fit? There should be a tab on one side of the J30 plug and a slot on the fan connector where that tab slides in.it doesn't fit. its for the main fantttwell, i don't know if your computer would start up without complaining about not detecting the heatsink fan (mine has ), but try buying one of these bad boys:

what's cool is that you could connect it to a used power connector since it still has the male plug on the end for a hard drive/cd drive/whatever needs it.
