Answer» I just bought a HP 4500 all-in-one printer, scanner, copier, fax combo. Had a terrible time trying to install the software. Finally got to a point where I can use the printer but that is all. I can not use the scanner from the PC (it will work as a local copier). HP is of little help, their forum is FULL of complaints but few solutions. I am using Windows 7, 64bit, a quad core processor and 4 gigs of ram. When I try to access the "HP Solution Center" it tells me that the installation was not complete. I recently re-installed Windows 7 because I was no longer able to install any new programs. That problem seemed to GO away after I re-installed Windows 7... Maybe not, Anybody have any ideas??
I had a similar problem trying to install my HP printer/scanner.
Remove any usb cables and STICKS.
Remove the HP software using UNINSTALL a program in Windows 7 cntrl panel.
To save having to reinstall the entire OS if something goes wrong. Set a system restore point before before installing new software.
Install the HP software BEFOFE connecting the printer.
But now ,the only usb device that is connected to my comp is the printer.
That got it going!!
Hope this helps.
