Solve : need help researching laptops!?

Answer»

Laptops, the happiness they bring, the love they ensue, the hatred we feel when they break...

Well its time for me to get a new one, and I wanted it to potentially run certain games, such as World of Warcraft + maybe Dawn of War and so on as SMOOTH as it can. On top of that, also packing up a decent battery life. I was wondering if any had any suggestions on a gaming laptop that had a decent battery life. Thanks for the input! What's your BUDGET?
And doe sit have to be a laptop?
A desktop computer will offer the same performance for much less, with higher RELIABILITY and more upgrade options, or for the same price will offer a far higher level of components.Quote from: Calum on March 14, 2008, 11:49:17 AM

Currently I do have a desktop, just built it a few months ago, runs great and happy. However, I shall be graduating soon and the graduation gift is "laptop" to whatever I wish for. I suppose my "potential" budget would have to be between 1500 to 2200 dollars, also I might have a job where I am traveling a decent amount so was looking for a laptop with a decent amount of battery life, along with the gamer in me wanting to chill sometimes Unfortunatly, A laptop for gaming and long battery life don't go together

I am currently using a Dell Inspiron with a Intel(R) CPU T2600 @ 2.16GHz and a GeForce Go 7800 graphics card and 2 gigs of ram. It also has a 17 in. wide screen monitor. The battery life stinks. And just for comparison, I have a desktop with about the same specs that will run CIRCLES around the laptop.

A separate video card is a must. The fastest one they make for laptops if possible. I did a quick search and found a couple in your price range but I am not sure I should post the links here?

I don't see why not? Does the terms and conditions say you cannot link to products to these threads?Dell has a couple. From what I have heard, the XPS is a gaming lalptop and is pretty good, although I have also heard you pay a lot for the fancy case.

I am not sure if it is ok to post links here or not, but If you do a search on gaming laptops, you will find a lot of sites.Any laptop is by nature going to LACK in gaming skills...they haven't built one yet that will convince me otherwise....
If you find one to challenge this supposition just ship it to me for 3 months of testing.
