Answer» I am building a new intel based system, and have run into a number of problems. 1. When I turn the power supply on, the system boots up, as opposed to when I hit the Power On button....the first thing I would do is double check the front case wiring ....be certain that the WIRES going out to the front panel are going to were the id tags say they are going ....... Next ..... double check your mobo manual and be 100% certain you have the front panel wires plugged in the PROPER places .... It is also possible that the power on button is defective ( its stuck open ) test it with a multimeter to be sure . Next are you absolutely certain you have the 20 or 24 pin plug .......( from the PSU to the mobo ....plugged in firmly and in the correct location . Quote No power seems to be getting to the dvd drivePlease tell us how you know this ...... If fact , it would be a good idea to tell us what mobo you are using ( make and model number ) The make and model of the hard drive(s) . The make and model of your optical drives .... ( CD or dvd ) Do you have a floppy drive ..... the type of Ram your installing Whats the wattage of the PSU The type of plug in cards you intend to install Do you have a speaker built into the case What processer are you using. Do you have the heat sink and cooling fan properly installed . Did you use a good quality thermal paste that should get us going . dl65 Mother Board: Intel D101GGCL ATI Socket 775 MicroATX Processor: Intel Pentium 4 519 3.06Ghz Power Supply: 380 watts Hard Drive: Maxtor DiamondMax 10 160 GB PATA 133 HDD Cooling Fan: Intel Copper Core Socket 775 CPU Cooling Fan RAM: Ultra1024MB PC3200 DDR 400MHz Memory DVD Drive: Sony DRU-810A 16x DVD+-R I've double checked all the front end wiring, everything seems to be in place correctly. I can tell the DVD drive is not getting power because the front LED does not light up when I turn the COMPUTER on, and the tray does not open when I press the button.Hi again ...I just printed out the electrical for your board ...... By any chance do you have skype installed on the pc your using and a headset and mike and I can talk to you directly ? dl65 dl65 is going high tech! Unfortunatly no, sorry.I actually was able to solve my problem, turns out the cables I had running from the drives to the primary and secondary IDE were no good. Thanks though! And that fixed the power button not working as well? :-? :-? :-?GX1_Man....... Quote And that fixed the power button not working as well?....... LOL I think not ....... Quote dl65 is going high tech!LOL ..... I have to be the worlds worst typist........ In a situation like this sort of issue .....it's a whole lot easier to have the posters manual in front of me on the screen and then We are able to go thruogh the connections one step at a time and then there's a better chance of resolution...... dl65 |
