I need help.  I have an EMACHINE computer that won't turn on.    The fans are going, but the power light does not come on and the monitor just STAYS black and goes into hybernation.  Also, I unplugged some wires and plugged them back in to see if maybe something was loose, now I can't remember what plug goes into the hard DRIVE.  There were 2 and one wasn't plugged in.  I've plugged both in and the thing won't start with either.  It just does the same thing it did before I messed with it.

Windows xp
2600+ AMD Athlon xp processor
80 GB Hard drive
512 MD ram

How to enter the BIOS or CMOS setup.

Enter BIOS to see if drive is recognized.each hard drive and cd/dvd rom should have two connectors a broad flat IDE  and a four pin/wire molex connecter.
the molex connector should be FITTED with the red wire facing into the center on the hard drive with the coloured edge of the broad flat IDE connector that has the edge adjacent

on the motherboard there are two connections for IDE and if you look closely you will see one marked IDE1 this is mainly for the hard drive
the other of sourse is IDE2 and this is normally the connection for the cd or dvd.
