ok, well lets c, im MOSTLY a software guy but as far as a can see its not a software problem i am haveing

whats wrong is my laptopmonitor everyonce in a while, sometimes multiple times a day or once a month will freek out, my computer will FREEZE, then my montior just turns into these black and white bars, point vertically going across my screen, i then have to do a HARD shutdown by holding down my power button, im GUESSING this is  a hardware issue, becuase i use a crt monitor as a secondary display with my laptop, (my laptop is a lcd) and when this occurs the crt turns just straight black like it has no signal.  someone help me, i currently run vista on my laptop, i hate it a ton i have xp my my main desktop and i have an extra key for my laptop but im just lazy lol so it might be a vista problem dunno, hahaha just someone help me please and uhhh...... ill love u over the internet like UVE never been loved before.make and model of laptop?toshiba satellite And what model number?
