Hello all HAPPY HOLIDAYS ! Hope everyone had the best one possible.

Here's my situation, I have a tube/BOX TV with RCA jacks and an S-Video port. My Laptop has HDMI and VGA ports. Originally thinking this would be an easy one only to find out no stores near me, best buy - radio shack - k-mart, carry the cable(s) I need to make this happen. Searched the net this morning only to get totally confused by the choices, and prices, that are available.

Instead of ordering the wrong thing I figured I'd ask here. So if anyone else has had this issue I'm looking for the cheapest possible way to get netflix to play through my laptop to my TV.

MP.hdmi would be your best bet for video quality. S-video has really low quality transfer.
I assume its the red, white, and yellow on your tv not the five rca version
hdmi to rca would be the best. There is a few on ebay that would work.

Making sure you have a computer that can run netflix smoothy is important.
Some bluray players have netflix abilities if thats an option you like too.

I'm "assuming" in the cable you copy and pasted I can use either the 3 RCA jacks (On the TV side) to the HDMI on my laptop OR the S-video to HDMI ? This is part of my confusion. It also states on the bottom I may need a converter box ?

I think this cable would work but I would have to buy extensions also or my laptop would have to be *censored* up to my TV. Correct ?

MP.Ya the converter i posted can be used with the 3 rca OR the vga. So i guess with your tv you would have to use the rca.
For 7 bucks you COULD try it, i mean it ISNT a huge investment

This one is even cheaper. Cables to make it longer are not hard to find. Easy to find at a radioshack.

S-video is pretty much limited to "Standard Definition" (or what was called High Definition television until they INTRODUCED High Definition TV, I know, it's confusing...). VGA can go fairly high, but the processing on the TV can vary.

Also, for reference, the order of preference, from least to greatest for Television display, at least IMO:

RF(coax)->Composite->S-Video->RGB Component->SCART->VGA->HDMIJust to be clear, S-video does not do audio so if you use the S-video input on your TV you will need separate audio cables. Typically, if three RCA jacks are used one is for video and two are for audio.
