Answer» I just completed my new build and my DVD drive and my HDD are showing as Drive: D , and Drive: C , as they should. But windows is giving me the "safely remove hardware" icon in my desktop tray. I'm not SURE how to fix this so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.Well if u dont know anything about comps dont do it urself thats how people **** me offCould you posts some specs on this new build? What device is showing up in safely remove hardware?
Oh and ignore KnowItAll, he'll be gone soon."Thank you Deerpark." How did you config the drive? Is it IDE or SATA?It is normal to see the "safely remove hardware" icon with internally installed SATA drives, since they are, in theory at least, removable.
EVGA 780i SLI MoBo Vista 64 bit
Hard drive is a Western Digital SATA 320GB HDD Optical Drive is a Samsung Lightscribe SATA DVD Burner
The HDD and the Optical drive are WHATS showing up in "safely remove". My other computer also has SATA drives, and I haven't had this problem with it. Although it may not be a problem, its still concerning. It's not a problem or even a concern. It is as Dias DE verano also said because SATA is in fact hot swappable, meaning that you can add or remove SATA DEVICES while the computer is running. (Although I would never recommend working INSIDE the case with the power on).Right. You would think the internal SATA drive's would be recognised as "internal" or something, therefore not hot swappable. Thanks though for the help.
