Solve : New DVD Rewriter - Need BIOS/Jumper Help?

Answer»

Ok, so I had a problem with my old rewriter as it was recognizing blank DVDs as CDs and so I got a different DVD rewriter and it is doing the same, so I think it's a BIOS or jumper problem.

What should I set my BIOS settings to and what should I set my jumper settings to? Many thanks. The BIOS won't cause this, and the only jumper on new optical drives is for the Master/Slave setting.
Can you provide us with more information about your system so that we can help you sort this out?Sure, what would you like to know? It's a PIONEER DVD-RW  DVR-112D.

What OS are you running?
What service pack is installed?
Are there any yellow or red FLAGGED devices in Device Manager?
What DVD/CD burning software are you using?OS - Windows XP
Service Pack 3
No flagged devices in DEV Man
I'm not using any DVD/CD burning software at the moment, I removed them all before I installed the new rewriter. I was using Cyberlink Power2go.This was in regedit:

Windows will show it according to what disk was used in it last...

Again...how is it HOOKED up inside the machine ? ?It's connected to the HDD.If there is another IDE connector you should use it...

If not the HDD should be jumpered master with the DVD as slave and cabled as follows:

MB===========================Master=========Slave.

But i doubt this is a jumper setting as Windows is showing the drive.
DLoad install and test CDBurnerXPro to see if the drive works.....FREE.The drive recognizes blank CDs as blank CDs, but it recognizes blank DVD-Rs as blank CDs. Quote from: w4yn3 on November 25, 2009, 07:46:03 AM

The drive recognizes blank CDs as blank CDs, but it recognizes blank DVD-Rs as blank CDs.

Install some DVD burning software and then endeavor to use the program to try and burn a DVD disc and tell us the results.truenorthI can't burn a DVD with CDBurnerXP. I think it's my DVD-R that is faulty. My drive recognizes the blank CD as a blank CD.Are you sure the media is a DVD ? ?
Have you tried another brand of blank media ? ?

CDBurnerXPro DOES burn DVD's...
If all this fails then the drive is probably faulty.how do i burn to dvd in cdburnerxp?
