Solve : New graphics card works on one not another? |
|
Answer» Hi. I have just installed a new Ati graphics card into a desktop pc and installed the driver (perfect) Until I took the pc back to its owner and booted it up with their monitor attached. The screen is very dark and the text is so hard to read and flickery. I then TRIED it on another monitor (perfect again) I downloaded the latest drivers and installed them ok but I cannot get it to display properly on the monitor in question. When I boot, it starts the windows logo screen and accounts seem to look good graphically, but just as windows finishes loading flick! of a second it goes dark, flickery and hard to read text on screen. I now know there is a problem with the monitor but i don't think a technical hardware problem because it worked fine until the graphics failed and I had to put in a new graphics card. Can you specify the brand and model of the two monitors your USING?Is there a driver for the display that should be installed? It could even be a failure in the CABLE for the monitor, a gun misalignment(CRT only), the list goes on.monitor going dark is a sign if it failing. At that point it's usually so FAR gone that it needs to be trashed, but that's with CRT's only.If it's an LCD, then it's a failing screen inverter/backlight.Thank you for your replies. I have further tested the monitor and it works fine, its just as the pc finishes booting into windows the pc monitor goes strange. The graphics card i am using is a ATI Radeon mx9600 64mb, operarting system XP Home. I feel that windows controls the graphics card on initial start up until the driver loads and then comes the horrid change in display. I would be happy for windows to control the card, however I keep getting new hardware found and I have to install the driver then it goes funny. If i uninstall the driver in device manager and restart its fine until I have to repeat the new hardware found install driver Agggggggggggghhhhh!!! Is there a way to stop the pop up new hardware found install driver process? Any help appreciated AshDownload and install the correct driver. I did install the correct driver to no AVAIL. however just to round up my wife got the driver to be VGA compatable and stopped the add new hardware wizard from running, how she did it we aint too sure but it works. Jobs a good en! Thank you Quote from: BC_Programmer on January 14, 2010, 05:49:34 PM monitor going dark is a sign if it failing. Or in the case of my brother-in-law, it means he has been drinking and he is pushing all the buttons on the front of the monitor. |
