Answer» im having a HP d220 MINI tower computer.
i bought a new hitachi HD..and i installed win XP
when i tried booting frm the DISK i get a error message sayin
"media test failure, check cable "
bt when i remove the new hard disk and replace it with the old HD, it works fine..i cant access hitachi web site coz its under construction...what can i do? is there a way how i can get hitachi HD diagnosis program frm smwhr else??

thxIt won't boot without an operating system installed to it...
It won't take an OS install unless it's formatted first.
Does the drive SHOW up in the BIOS ? ?yeah i formatted the disk and installed windows on it too
it shows on the BIOS
i tried the following:
i USED my old HD as the slave drive..and when i did that, the computer booted and i was able to acces my new HD..it shows that the HD is working properly too..bt STILL im havng the problam when i use my new HD alone
