Solve : New monitor out of frequency with video card?

Answer»

Somebody gave me a computer w/o the monitor (which was an LCD) so I bought a new CRT monitor for it. When I connected the monitor and booted up the pc, a "OUT OF FREQUENCY" message APPEARED on the monitor and then the monitor closed. Apparently, my video card (Winfast Nvidia 6800 GT) is out of the frequency range of my new monitor. How can I change the settings of the video card if I cant use the monitor? Two options: Do you have another video card? Is there an onboard video port? There is no onboard graphics. There is another video card but its the same as the first and they are in SLI. I can go to safe mode just fine though but from there I cant access the video card configuration. Are you sure you can't get to your Display settings in Safe Mode?

I have Windows XP Home and I was able to...

Get to your Display Settings through the Control Panel. CLICK the Settings tab and then the Advanced button. Click the Monitor tab and you can adjust the refresh rate there.

Post back with your results please...Yes, I already did that. I can go to Display, Advance and Monitor. But all it SAID in the Refresh is Default Hardware settings. There are no other choices.Fixed the problem. I WENT to VGA mode in boot options and booted in normal Windows mode. From there I RESET the resolution of my monitor. When I restarted the problem was fixed.Glad to hear you got it working...
