Answer» HP - Vista system. Had corded MOUSE with round PRONG plug. New mouse is a Microsoft wireless and appears to be recognized (in control panel) but does not control of pointer. I needed to replug in the old mouse to direct anything. I have shut down and started up with just the new mouse - didn't work. I have checked properties and updated drivers - both mouse say all updated and working properly. Any suggestions? Did you install the mouse software ? ? Any wireless devices near the machine ? ? Replace the batteries. Then RUN the setup settings in Control Panel/Mouse. Some recievers have a small button you need to PRESS first to establish a CONNECTION... If all this fails return it as defective.
