Solve : New Printer what to do ? avoiding problems.? |
|
Answer» My HP 1510 All In Ones scanner just died and I'm needing to buy a new printer/scanner of another brand, probably a Canon this time. I was wondering how this will effect my HP Image Zone 4.7 When I scan items I normally I go into the HPIZ and press "From Scanner" will this still be the case when I USE a Canon product ? or if the Canon has it's own system do I still keep the HPIZ on my computer ? I noticed in the "Add or remove programs" the HP Image Zone 4.7 uses 269.00 MB and under that the HP Extended Capabilities also uses 269.00 MB. I'm not sure if that's allot so I'm wondering if those programs should be removed if the Canon system won't be USING them ? what happens to all the scans ?Each print scanner is different and comes with it own software. You MITE be able to use the program but you should install them driver as it will cause problems. All your scans will be unreadable unless you have another program that can see them. What file format are your old scans? Scans are usually in a standard file format like .jpg, .gif, .tiff, etc. If this is the case then you won't need the HP Software to view them in the future. Your new scanner should come with its own software and you can avoid hassles by uninstalling the HP software before you install the new software. Are you stating that existing scans will be unreadable or that future scans will be? I use adobe and there saved as pdf but I have an Hp print/scanner that has its own software. Thanks squall_01 and Eg0Death. I've checked the PROPERTIES of my scans and it says JPEG. it looks like the scans should be safe, when I press Start - My Documents - My Scans. the folders appear, I guess what I was concerned about is when I open the HP Image Zone a bunch of the old scans are shown and I was afraid of losing them, but they appear to be in the folders as well. |
