Answer» I have purchased a new Saitek Eclipse KEYBOARD for my pc. The old keyboard plugged into the back of the cpu via a PS/2 connection. The new keyboard has a USB connection. I unplugged the old keyboard and connected the new keyboard in the USB port. It works for everything except when I want to play my on-line game (Lord of the Rings Online).
I thought it MIGHT be that the game is looking for the keyboard at the PS/2 port, so I tried rebooting several times with the new keyboard plugged in. Still doesn't work. I also tried uninstalling the game and reinstalling it to see if it might reroute with the new connection. Still doesn't work.
The main purpose for getting this new keyboard was to play this game. I need help!
Thanks, Melinda~Did you install the drivers for the new keyboard ? ?There were no drivers to install. No cd in the BOX. Looked at their website and it states that it's plug and play, no drivers necessary. Are you running Vista ? ?
Even if not go to Control Panel /System/Hardware/Device Manager...find the keyboard listing right clik it and select remove. You will get a warning message...ignore it and re-boot. Windows will automatically re-install it.
See if this improves things.No....running XP. Plugged the keyboard into my husband's computer and it works FINE. *sigh*
Tried plugging into 2 different USB PORTS....still works fine everywhere except when it's time for the game to load.
I will try to uninstall the keyboard drivers. We'll see what happens.Just so you know it's best to use the rear USB ports for any device acting up...it's a known power issue on tons of machines out there.Still doesn't work. Bummer. We'd need to know the differences between your husband's and your machine to tell any further... If it works on his that means it's not the keyboard at fault.Redefine the controls of your keyboard from the game? or reinstall the game... Just a thought.
