I have an amd 64 x2 4600 cpu, ASUS A8N-SLI-SE MOBO, ATI X800 PRO video card, 2 gig starram RAM, 80 gig seagate hdd, when installing windows xp i get a error message screen that i will attach. is this a hardware compatablility problem or something else?Has the RAM been tested?

Is your BIOS configured?

Is this a newly built PC?Has it ever worked correctly?i should have given more details sorry guys, its a new system, all new parts. im thinking it maybe a RAM problem, i only have cheap RAM, brand name is STARRAM. with two stcks i have to INSTALL them in A1 and B1, correct?Ram worked in this pc so i assume its ok. and bios is set to default except boot order.Quote

For Dual channel, yes. Slots should be coloured accordingly. Same colour means same channel.

You should check your BIOS if this is a newly built PC. perhaps your FSB is out of alignment. You should check your BIOS if this is a newly built PC. perhaps your FSB is out of alignment.
Is this a difficult operation? ive never done MUCH as far as bios goes.Quote

Not quite. Setting it to "Auto" should do.

If you're not entirely sure on how to use your BIOS, you should refer to the mainboard manual.Try installing with 1 gig ram.

I got the same window with a new 2 gig install . removed 1 stick and the system worked. Then purchased to 1 gig sticks from crucial and did not have another problem again. That would be 2-1 gig sticks.
