Solve : New Wine in Old Skins: Monitor Compatibility?

Answer»

Have recently acquired Dell Dimension 1100 with Windows XP Home Ed. O.S.
Unfortunately it came without a monitor. When I connected by reliable but elderly Monitor the picture emerged fuzzy with four of everything. I tried to solve it by opening in Safe Mode and reducing resolution to 800 by 600 but this did not WORK. Is there anything I might try?Do you need to download any special drivers to make the monitor run? Have you tried updating the video CARD drivers?

Flameif its an OLDER monitor did you try and degause it?I have got it WORKING now. Clicked 'Control Panel', 'Display', 'Settings', 'Advanced', 'Monitor', and then reset the 'Screen Refresh Rate' to 60 herz. This gets rid of the interference.

However I am interested in your recommendation. What do you mean by 'degause'? How does one go about doing this?

Also another reply suggested downloading special drivers and updating the video card drivers? How do I go about locating these drivers (which are the right ones?)Quote

What is your video card? All Drivers are available on the Dell website, sorted my machine and operating system. Right SIDE of page under Popular Support Tools:

If unsure, download Everest home and run it to see all of this and more:
