Answer» hello, I will like to firstly note that I know next to nothing about computers. I recently got a second hand computer off my brother. Now the problem I seem to be having is that I am not getting any sound from the speakers at all.
I have gone to control panel> sounds and audio DEVICES and there it says "no audio devices"
And in the Device Manager the only things LISTED under sound, video and game controllers is Audio Codecs Legacy Audio Drivers Legacy Video Capture Devices Media Control Devices Video Codecs
I am running a HP Pavillion m7369a Media Center PC Intel Pentiunm 4 Processor 524 NVIDIA GeFORCE 7300LE
Umm, I don't know anything else. I would really appreciate any help on this. I would love to have sound on this device. I must also note that I do not have any of the recovery cds.
Thank you all in Advance What OPERATING system are you running on it? Windows XP or Vista?
Since you said second hand computer, I will assume XP. If that is true:
Download this DRIVER from the HP website and install it. The instructions are on this page as well as the audio driver download.

If the problem lies not within the drivers and this does not fix your sound issue, let me know.THANK YOU SO MUCH!:)
You are a star!
That did help. You have no idea how happy I was to hear the windows start up sounds
Thank you
