HDD 80Gb
Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz
Windows XP home

Hi everybody:
I got an old computer about 5 years, and it began having problems when I try to restart the machine. It didn't display anything on the monitor. I took it to the repair shop and they told me that there was nothing wrong with it. They made me bring the monitor, and they told me that there was nothing wrong with the monitor either.

When I got home, I plug everything back in place, and the computer boot normal, but when I try to open any program, the computer began to run really slow, and the programs began not responding. I scan the computer checking if there was any malware, but the scan lock also.

I decide to reinstall Windows XP and reformat the HDD. The process of reformatting  was successful. I was checking the process until the Windows is installing XP massage appears with the time it will take to finalize the installation. Since it said it was going to take 39 min, I left it alone. When I came back an hour later, there was the blue screen of death displayed. When I restart the machine, there was no beep and nothing display.
All the lights turn on but nothing else.

I'm thinking that either the RAM or the Hard drive has died. What are some other specs on the computer? Tell me everything you know about the hardware that's in it.BSOD error message was ? ? Quote

Sorry, I know what you meant, but that cracked me up when I read it.BSOD error message was ? ?

I didn't read it, shame on me.  But when I read it I thought it was a RAM problem. But later I REMEMBER The HDD was replace about a year ago.

Like a rabbit actually,  nice one!!

I'm sorry I don't have more information beside the HDD is a Seagate, I'm beginning to feel a little dump!!!

I thinking about buying a new one, this is an old PC... Thank you guys...!!!!
before giving up on it here is something you can try.
1. If there is more than 1 stick of ram in it remove all but one and then try the ram one stick at a time and see what happens.
2.Along the same line remove all cards except the VGA card and see what happens. If you are able at that point to get something that WORKS then reintroduce the cards one at a time until something changes. You might also want to (if available) to change the SLOTS of some of the hardware cards.
How many Physical HDD's in the computer? How many optical drives? The basic notion here is that if perchance the problems you are having are hardware related get the connected devices to the bare minimum and then one at a time reintroduce them. truenorthSorry It took to long to reply, but it was actually the RAM...I had 2 sticks in my other PC and I use one to fix the problem.

Thank you once again my friends!!!Great another satisfied customer.truenorth
