Solve : No screen on monitor?

Answer»

I attempted to increase memory MB by installing a LARGER MB of memory. Unknowingly I reversed the memory and was trying to install it backwards. Not realizing one end was not locked in I turned the computer. No screen on the monitor was the result. After inspecting it and realizing what I had done I reversed the memory and STILL nothing. I then reinstalled the original memory and still no screen. Please tell me what I might have done. I didn't use any real force when I INSTALLED the memory in backwards and visually checked the memory slots for damage. I couldn't see any damage in the slots or the memory.try disconnecting power to your PC and popping out the BIOS battery. leave it out for about 5min then pop it back in and reboot. try this first with the original RAM that you had in it. if it boots successfully, pop out the old RAM and install the new RAM and reboot again.I removed the BIOS battery for 5 minutes as you suggested and replaced the original memory, and still no screen.
I will purchase a new battery and some new memory today, then let you know the results. Thank You for your assistance.Sounds like to me you might want to pick up a motherboard while you're out battery shopping.Quote from: jamesj2001 on August 22, 2008, 08:47:38 AM
