Solve : No Signal - New LCD Monitor?

Answer»

Hi, I have a computer and have always used an LCD monitor with it, I have had to replace the monitor, and found a no-name ONE, which seemed to do the trick - it says it supports the display I normally use (1280 x 1024) via a VGA CABLE, which is the same set-up I have always used, anyway, got the monitor, set it up - got the message 'NO SIGNAL', BROUGHT a new VGA cable and got the same message. Went into Start Up and was able to boot the computer using 'ENABLE VGA', which has worked, however I can't set the resolution above 640 x 480 - I thought it must be the monitor, so went and brought a different brand, which had it's own VGA cable - exactly the same problem.

If I try to increase the resolution or the refresh RATE at all, I just get a 'NO SIGNAL' message.

Can anyone help?

Thanks millions!Sometimes, in the Enable VGA mode, 640x480 is the only resolution you can usually set.

What kind of video card do you have? Have you tried reinstalling the driver?

Really, you shouldn't need to REINSTALL video drivers for changing monitors, but I had a similar issue both when I switched from CRT to LCD, and when I replaced my LCD with a new one. Reinstalling the driver fixed it for some reason.
