So someone just fixed my computer and when I hooked it back up the sound didn't work, it wasn't SAYING there was a sound device or anything. Then something popped up about windows media manager or something and all of a sudden the red X went away and it said there was a device (I still didn't hear anything though) and then I restarted to install updates and now its back to the red X with no sound device. I waited 5 months to get it back and I would really like it if someone could help me. This is what dxdiag said before when it listed sound:
