Solve : No sound on windows 98?

Answer»

Ack. The only way I found win.com was using the searchbar; as SOON as I hit enter the black box opened x_x How do I find it on it's own without it opening by itself?

Also, because I know i'm going to be asking this as soon as I find it.. *headdesk*

I'm supposed to right click on the icon to rename it, right? Not some other fancy way or anything?Open Windows Explorer (through Start MENU, or hold Windows key, and hit "e" key), navigate to C:\Windows, find win.com file, and right click on it, click "Rename".Got it, but the file isn't called "win.com" it's just "WIN" o3o
But it's the same file that came up when I SEARCHED it.

Should I still CHANGE it's name?
What about the win.com I mentioned earlier too now?
Since I think that may be the only reason it came up in the search. To find win.com file, you may need to enable hidden, and system files view.
In Windows Explorer go Tools>Folder OPTIONS>View tab, put a checkmark next to Show hidden files, and folders, and uncheck Hide protectedoperating system files.
