Solve : No sound whatsoever... again... something to do with codecs????

Answer»

Hiya all,

New to the forum - be nice!

My pc does not omit any sound whatsoever, GAMES, cds, mp3s etc etc. This has happened before, and I believe that WHOEVER fixed it (when it was under warranty) merely told a family member over the phone to do something involving the audio codecs or driver.

My system is a Packard Bell, dual core @ 1.8, principle audio device 'Realtek HD Audio output' and driver 'RtkHDAud', DirectX 9.0c. Listed under 'Sound, video and game controllers' in device manager is 'Audio Codecs', 'Legacy Audio Drivers', 'Media Control Devices' and 'Realtek High Definition Audio'. Don't REALLY know if any of this helps.

HELP PLEASE!!!Do you get any system sounds? Things like the windows song when you start or shut down your system.

Have you installed anything new? When was the last time you had sound?

Hello!

Are your systems updated?
And, also like what Spolier said, any changes you've done LATELY?

No system sounds, no sound of any description at any time through speakers, headphones, other monitors - nada.

No massive changes at all, occasionnal scan for viruses but that has never caused issues before. What does Device Manager say about sound? Any errors?nobody has asked the obvious yet so i will...

are your speakers on? are they plugged in? are they plugged into the correct jacks? did you MUTE the sound on your computer accidentally?
