Answer» Hi all, and first off thank you for trying to help me.
My computer is a m7700 Alienware Aurora running Windows XP.
I was very foolish and although my notebook wasn't having any problems, I opened it up to try to clean it out last weekend. I pulled out tufts of DUST and fur from the fans and blew compressed air throughout. I was careful to keep contact with the computer's frame while inside it, but I may have forgotten at some point.
When I went to turn the computer back on, I got nothing but a BLACK screen and a solid hard drive light. I don't even get to BIOS. The num LOCK and CAPS lock lights flash on and off at startup but then will not light back up if I push the corresponding keys. None of the fans come on, and if I try to start it up without memory sticks in, there are no beeps. I have also tried running an eraser over the memory stick copper tines, but to no avail.
Is this a definite motherboard/ replace the computer problem, or are there other possibilities? Thank you very much for reading and for your help.Have you opened the box up again to make sure you didn't dislodge anything?I have opened up the box again, and I have checked all the connections to make sure that everything is correctly seated and all the connections are plugged in tightly. Will it boot to a cd? And what is the OS?It won't boot on a CD. The OS is Windows XP.Quote from: awaldo on October 15, 2009, 03:54:54 PM I have opened up the box again, and I have checked all the connections to make sure that everything is correctly seated and all the connections are plugged in tightly.
You must have missed something. Check it again.
