Solve : Not starting up?

Answer»

Intel Celeron 2.8GHz/400MHz Processor
200 Watt Power Supply
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
Seagate 40 GB 5400 RPM Hard Drive
Intel (Thrasher) Motherboard
MEM DDR 256MB PC333 32MX8

I personally assume that the problem is the motherboard...but I will leave that up to you to decide. I had my computer running when the power went out. When the power came BACK it flickered a couple of times then stayed strong. When I next tried to start my computer, the computer startes...but the monitor does not recieve any information and only shows the
"Monitor self test/Your monitor is working correctly/Please check your monitor cables/or power cords" Or something along those lines. After say...45 seconds or so...the monitor goes into its rest MODE...works but stops showing anything. This has happened before on a different computer and it was the motherboard that was fried...so I really assume that is the problem, but any help is wanted. ThanksReconnect and reseat firmly all hardware.

I strongly RECOMMEND a PSU that is capable of delivering 300 wattages or more for system stability. 200 Wattages is not sufficient for most modern systems.Have you had this gateway pc from new?Reconnect and reseat firmly all hardware---still nothing

Have you had this gateway pc from new?---YesMotherboards have the ability to take a lot of misuse... Have you done anything with the inside the case? Power? Monitor is not working... If there was a problem, the psu varistor would have blown...

200 Watt Power Supply

Power Supply Wattage calculatorSo if I have more than my aloted power supply....what will happen.

The computer has run correctly until the power went out....so I assume it could run for a time...I don't know. What would happen if overclocked if that could be used as the correct term?I have done very little inside the case. I have replaced the modem with a wireless...I have replaced memory card with a new ONE...though I still need some more...huh...anyways...thats about it.

I WANT to put in about a Gig of memory and put in a larger hard drive....but I will just build me a new computer to use for my everyday crap.

It'll be a 100X better anyways.

But I still want to figure out what happened.

Thanks again Quote

Did the ramstick can with the system?? 256ddr>...with a celeron cpu...No Idea actually.

I used to have multiple parts just strewn about everywhere...and Im actually not sure exactly what each is until I put it in...if it fits...I use it. Normally I don't do anything myself unless it is a scrap computer Im putting together for the fun of breaking it later . So I really don't much care about labeling what I have...I just see if it fits and then hook it up.

However...I gave/broke/threw away most of my "collection" so I now buy from TigerDirect whatever I need...so...yeah. Sorry I have not been able to check this...No computer working you know?

Anyways...I intend to give the computer to a man who works on em and he can have the pleasure of fixing it up for me.

Thanks for everything
