Solve : Nothing?

Answer»

Okay.it started with my computer acting a little slower. Then next thing was that the browser made no sounds.I try and listen to music:nothing.I try and watch a video:i see video but no sound.video looks nice, loads okay but no sound.Any advice?Try a system restore > Start/Accessories/SystemTools/SystemRestore - Take it back to a date that everything was ok. The slow down might also be spyware. There are plenty of free programs out there, so just grab one of them and run it for spyware. What is new or has changed since the sound worked ? ? my computer acting a little slower

1. On Booting or Loading?
2. Browsing and on the internet?
3. Opening windows explorer and user files?
4. All of the above...?
You could also provide some additional info. on your computer specs such as RAM and Hard drive capacity(Free and Used)

Loonysloth - Click on the link below and read through it. LET us know if it works, if not come back and we can look at something else.

http://askbobrankin.com/system_restore.htmlIt's safe to ignore the above Post...well.slower on the browsing.80 Gb,256 mb DDR SDRAM?(not sure if thats what you wanted.not sure where to check how much of hard drive is taken up.oh and new problem has risin too.now the little guider thing for vidoes moves along at right time but now the video screen stays black.oh and sound still gone.i heard somethign about drivers?what are they?Okay. Nothing means you have no sound...? Could be on a driver.
1. Have you tried other audio files such as music on winamp or winmedia or any CDs on optical drive using external speakers? Are there sounds coming out?
2. Does this sound-out happens to watching movies only?
a. On the internet?
B. Using media software such as VLC,winamp?
c. What typical websites do you pertain?

256 mb DDR SDRAM
Now depending on your activities, these will affect a little slower...

80 Gb
Righ-click on the drive(usually C), choose Properties and you will know your current HD status(free and used). Post it.

i heard somethign about drivers
We'll go thru these after 1's to 3.
driver: Realtek AC97 Audio.did a little run and says its fine.6.55 gb of hardrive used, 70.1 gb free..surfin the net.proud to sya i go on Geekologie.com often.usually videos work but SUDDENLY there was no sound.not even on the big video place youtube.playlist.com is meant for nothin but music.but cant hear any of it.now video screens aint workin. If your using IE as your browser for the websites your having trouble with, MAKE sure it is the updated version of Internet explorer. Try using another browser such as Firefox(latest version) and check if it makes a difference. Delete all cookies or temporary internet files. Or you can go to Tools, Internet Options, Advanced and put a check mark on "Empty temporary internet files folder when broswer is closed" click Apply, Ok. Update java and if you dont have an Adobe Flash player, download one. To check if you have Adobe, On IE go to Tools, manage add-ons and look for Shockwave Flash Object(Under toolbars and extension) and if its enabled.
*If you have Shockwave Flash Object --> "Do not download"
*To verify Java Version  -->
http://java.com/en/download/installed.jsp
Click on Verify Java Version
to see if you have recommended Java installedFirstly i would check in device manager  (VARIES a little but generally start-my computer-right click-properties-device manager) if the sound driver is installed you will know if it isnt there will be a yellow exclamation mark next to a driver under sound video and game controllers. If you unknowingly installed a virus it may have wiped this.
Secondly i would clear all cookies private browsing history etc.
Thirdly go to www.speedtest.net and test your internet speeds and then using spybot search and destroy which can be found here (www.safer-networking.org/) to delete and viruses, malware, spyware etc then re-run your test.

If you have got a virus some can make system restore unavailable and therefore a boot into sdafe mode will be required if this is the case let me know and ill walk you through how to get rid of it.

Just a thought on these part... Lets take a look on your Windows Audio Service and see what happens.
Click Start then  go to Control Panel. While on Control Panel, Click Administrative Tools, Located at the bottom is "Services" open/2x click.
Look for the Windows Audio Service ONLY. Right-click on it and choose Properties. Check for Startup Type(Disabled?, Automatic?, Manual?). If its Disabled, Drag down to choose "Automatic", "click Apply",Exit. If its still a no go. Go back and choose "Manual".
