Solve : nothing responding at system startup?

Answer»

So let me explain the situation.

This Powerspec computer was working perfectly FINE three months ago before I went on my vacation. I unplugged it and let it SIT in my basement til today, since I wanted to start using it again.

So I plugged everything in almost as it was before except I switched from using my Sony flat panel, to a Sony CRT monitor.

When I booted up, nothing displayed on the screen and the monitor went into power save mode. I have a BFG GRAPHICS card so I connected my monitor into that 1st with no luck, and even plugged it into the stock intel graphics card and still no luck.

So then I grabbed the Sony Flat Panel that my parents were using and it started up for a bit. It went to the opening Powerspec screen but that was it. And then it went back to the same old problem. I resetted but this time it didnt even go to the Powerspec screen.

Also this time I realized there was no beep at the startup. Another thing I noticed were that the lights on my keyboard didn't light up at startup and the mouse laser didn't turn on either.

Everything in the computer seems to be working fine, the fans blowing, the drives open and close, and the LEDs on the graphics card are on.

So... can anyone help me out? I would really appreciate it.

By the way, my parents have the same exact computer (with out the GPU) and all of the same peripherals work fine.Bad CMOS battery or bad power supply. Do you have another you could check with (power supply, that is)?
