Solve : nv4_disp, tried everything need a new graphics card?

Answer»

Hi,
recently I GOT the nv4_disp (short article about the problem) is causing a problem blue screen message. I tried everything thing that articles on the internet told me to do (installing new drivers, installing old drivers, completely removing drivers etc.) but nothing worked
Eventually I contacted XFX, they said
'''the memory-video RAM - on the vcard has corrupted, which sadly is something that cannot be repaired. Unfortunately the card is no longer in warranty anyway, so we cannot help with RMA / replacement in this case, but we would recommend trying to control the corruption by lowering the memory clock by a small amount - perhaps 30Mhz - 50mhz - and see if this helps get rid of the instability / artefacts on the screen. You can use the rivatuner program to do this kind regards, James.'''

So I'm planning on getting a new card because the idea above hasn't worked.
I have a budget of £100 (maybe £120 but thats only if it's necessary)
I found a ATI card and a Nvidia card both in my budget but I'm not sure which is better.
The article about choosing GRAPHIC cards on this site doesn't include these cards.
I'm thinking about getting the ATI card only because I am a bit annoyed that my Nvidia card broke.

Any ideas would be great thanksIf you're convinced you NEED a new card, the best you could get is the ATI 5770 for AROUND £110, or the Nvidia GTS250 for around £85. The 5750 is fairly weak, not really worth £100 IMO.
Neither is a significantly faster card than the 8800GTX you currently have, though.
Hope this helps.Quote from: Calum on April 30, 2010, 12:15:59 PM

If you're convinced you need a new card

By that do you mean there might be another way of fixing my card?

And, thanks for the information about the graphics card it was very helpful Quote from: saint_hades on May 01, 2010, 08:53:28 AM

Not really, no. If you've tried everything that you've read, and XFX support have basically told you that you are SOL, there's nothing further I could suggest.
