Answer» Getting a BLUE screen on boot with: Prob. detected windows is shut down now to prevent damage. "There are very few if any Media Center Edition CD's out there if at all..." I have 2 CD's that are for Media Center that came with my DigitalStorm Machine. Prob. is that now I have no boot CD.Are these Recovery CDs or Windows XP Media Center Install CDs? Recovery CDs generally are used to restore a pre-installed system to state it was in when you bought it. Any chance the system came with a Recovery Partition on one of the hard drives. Are you saying you don't have a "bootable" CD (or CD-ROM drive)? 3. Hard Drives. Are you saying you have two "physical" hard drives? Are they in a RAID configuration or are they logically INDEPENDENT of each other? 4. CD-ROM Drive. Do you have a bootable CD-ROM drive on any computer system? 5. Floppy Disk Drive. Do you have a bootable floppy disk drive on "any" computer system? The CD's are not recovery CD as it turns out. Digital Storm provided me with a recovery disk that would only "validate the image" and then the comp. would boot to the blue screen. I do have bootable drives. I do (did) have wo physically independant drives. Took the comp. to Microcenter Repair as one drive was not reading anything (spinning) and I had tried to load XP Pro (after reformatting) on the second drive, but the software would not load completly as the key I entered was ALREADY taken by my other comp. Have floppies on both comp. Decided to take the machine into have it repaired as it also needed a new MB. Went 'round and 'round with Digital Storm on trying to get my SoundBlaster XFI sound card to work with the Asus Formula MB. Couldn't get the mic. to work and headphone sound out would come and go. Turns out that Forulas have sound card issues. Thanks for the help this far...but I only have so much time to keep trying things and we need both computers for work at home.Okay, you've turned the machine over to the repair shop. With the "new" motherboard, will you be using the previous operating system and license? If you don't have the time or desire to address that, I understand. I hope all goes well with your computers.Yes, I have the software license for MediaCenter, but strange that the two MC DC's I had wouldn't boot the computer from the CD Rom drive I designated in the Bios. Maybe I'll call Digital Storm and find out what's up with that. |
