Solve : On Bootup It says Primary Drive Failed Slave Drive failed.....?

Answer»
 Does this just mean the HD is not responsing...? I checked all connections and they seem fine. HD is over 10 years old...Probably the HD, but you should TRY another device (HD or CD-ROM) in the motherboard IDE connector to make sure the motherboard controller hasn't failed.  If more than 1 device on IDE cable, the failure of 1 will cause the error you see.check if your cable is back my USING another ata/sata cable and chack if you have the right jumper settingsJumper setting were never changed....

Cable checks good...

That is old for a hard drive.

using another ata/sata cable

If it's over 10 years old it won't have a SATA cable attached to it.

 The other devices work. Here is what I have found. I disconnected each HD individually and it still doesn't find the other HD. AS a matter of fact, when I go into the BIOS and the setup menu, it shows you the order in which it will BOOT. And it TELL you the name/make of each device. But under IDE HD is says none, as if there aren't there...One of the HDs is only 2 years old.

 Any other suggestions...? Quote from: BuyDell on July 21, 2010, 06:41:51 AM

Not ENOUGH info.
1.  IDE cables:  40-conductor or 80-conductor?
2.  Jumper settings:  CS-Cable Select. MS-Master. SL-Slave

When you disconnected each hard drive (as described), did you place the remaining hard drive on the end of the connecting cable? Quote from: southpaw63119 on July 21, 2010, 11:29:59 AM
