Solve : Optical drive woes? |
|
Answer» hope someone can help me out ...i bought a pioneer-112d dvd/cd writer with no instructions... i properly installed the drive physically into my computer... i know this because when i first booted the system up after the installation, the computer recognized new hardware for a short while. After this I attempted to use the drive, which will open and close, but it will not read the disk and I am unsure of the problem. I have attempted to install the proper drivers to make it work, but this has not worked either. I would also try another IDE cable and hook it up as the only drive on that cable jumpered as master... Have you done this with a NEW cable ? ? If so try the drive in another machine...if it does the same thing it is junk. That and updating the firmware is never the place to start. Windows has drivers for optical devices built in, and unloess you have a SPECIFIC problem that a firmware update specifically addresses, then just like a BIOS flash, it does NOT need to be done. |
