Solve : OVERCLOCKING limits?

Answer»

Hi guys just need a bit of wisdom. Iv overclocked my Athlon643500+ from 2.2GHz to 2.57GHz, I also have a Geforce 7800GTX which is clocked from 430/1200 to 495/1360 so its a pretty huge increase and the performance is a lot better. However If I GO any higher even a single MHz it becomes unstable. Im just worried in case Im pushing it to a degree that it can't handle and it will slowly burn out instead of an immediate explosion.

Also when I put the cpu clock down I can go higher with my Video card and vice versa. What should I put my Mhz into? The CPU or Graphics card for PEAK performance.though I myself am going to attempt in the not so near future OVERCLOCKING, its TERMS and conditions like these that keep me satisfied
waiting.

(I would carefully do a lot more reading on this and learn more on voltage = understanding  before "messing around"....)Graphics card gives by far the most performance increase, but with that setup all games should whizz anyway. Why risk physical damage to your computer for the sake of a few FPS?Hardware manufacturer's and retaliers alike love overclockers...You can overclock them both, you don't need to overclock just one.
That OC should give you a good boost.
Just watch your temps.Yeah it is a kick *censored* setup but Im not doing it for just a few frames per second. Supreme Commander is an absolute killer on my basic rig, company of heroes and UT2007 look much more demanding. Thanks for the advice though.CoH isn't that bad, my friend runs it on a Radeon 9550.
Although he also says he runs FEAR on highest settings with no lag . . . something's wrong there . . .
Anyway, CoH will run great on that rig.
Not sure about UT07 though., you may have to turn the detail down a bit.Look in your nVidia settings and see if you have for example, anti-alaising (or whatever it's called I can never remember) and so forth set to high levels and to automatically override the program's settings. If you have them changing the options in game might not be having an effect, causing performance to remain slow.
