Answer» I have an older GATEWAY tower that's been working fine until one day I turned it on and all I get on the tower is an amber lite (standby). Can't TURN it off. When unplugged and plugged BACK in, amber lite comes back on. POWER button has no effect. Got a green lite on motherboard with no fans running. Checked condition of wires from power SUPPLY and from power button to mobo. Any suggestions will be much appreciated.I recently fixed an old Gateway tower, the power button was broken inside. Took it apart and fixed it with epoxy.Thanks, Computer_Commando. It almost seems too easy, but I'll try it.try another power supply unit......just a WHIM..
